Statement
Like an impressionist composer, I often draw upon water and light for inspiration. Throughout my life, I have had a spiritual connection to water. As a child, I grew up on the shores of a lake in Connecticut – floating away through countless summer evenings with the fireflies. As an adult, water became my livelihood as I commercial fished in the dramatic oceans of Alaska and the Bering Sea. Now a resident of the Santa Ynez Valley, I naturally felt an affinity with Lake Cachuma. This piece of work represents the synergy I feel when all the elements are present – the water, the land, the light and my perception all engaged in a lyrical dance.
